His post also noted that the other emergency room in the city was not taking additional patients or ambulance arrivals due to no water and no power.

Currently more than 7M people are under a “boil water” notice in Texas which is a population greater than all of Tennessee.

Michael Greenshaw Sentenced

Michael Greenhaw

Michael Greenhaw, 43, a former Alabama paramedic was sentenced Tuesday for stealing from more than 100 vials of fentanyl and replacing their contents with saline.

Michael Greenhaw

Greenhaw, was ordered by a federal judge to serve fifty-one months in prison after pleading guilty in October 2019 to one count of tampering with a consumer product. Greenhaw, while working as a supervisory paramedic at First Response Ambulance Service, removed the contents of 129 fentanyl citrate vials for personal use and then refilled the vials with saline, according to a plea agreement. The thefts took place during Greenhaw’s shifts between April and August 2018.

US Attorney Statement on Michael Greenhaw

“Greenhaw put vulnerable patients in grave danger by replacing fentanyl citrate with saline in vials that he knew were intended to be administered to critically ill or injured patients,” U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona said in a statement. “Greenhaw’s criminal conduct undermines the tireless efforts of first responders who work hard to make sure that patients receive the necessary emergency medical care.”

The case was investigated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Office of Criminal Investigations Miami Field Office, the Decatur Police Department, and the Arab Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Stuart Burrell serving as lead prosecutor.

A Corvallis firefighter resigned during an investigation of their use of department narcotics.

Want To Be A Never Forget Writer?

Want To Be A Never Forget Writer? Have you ever wanted to write or speak for FDIC or an EMS conference and wondered how? We are seeking interested people who want to join our nonprofit group to write about either general public safety issues or specific content areas of interest (police, fire, EMS) to help us grow the site’s public safety readership. Never Forget Writer As a new site we are hoping to deliver high quality content, but are working on a shoe string budget and volunteer team. We would like to add additional voices who can help us make sure our perspectives are well rounded and we are not missing any opportunities.

Want To Be A Never Forget Writer?

We are looking for students seeking an internship. We are looking for stay at home parents looking for an added hobby. We are looking for experienced journalist retirees who still want to contribute. If you are a current paid or volunteer firefighter, police officer, or EMS responder we are looking to add your voice to provide a forum to publish best practices on incident response.

We are managed by a nonprofit and can provide school credit as needed, but as above, right now, we are seeking volunteer staff only. As we get off the ground and begin accepting advertising dollars, we expect to share that with both the original team (you) and to support our mission of keeping the public informed on a nonpartisan basis.

In recent weeks we have posted extensively about the Nashville bombing, responders who dishonored their badge, and are planning monthly training pieces on issues hitting responders. With the right writing team we can add content more regularly.

You can live anywhere as the operation is entirely remote at this point and you can be an early morning eagle or a night owl as long as you can help us hit deadlines.

So are you ready to be a Never Forget writer? If so, please contact us here.

Moderna COVID19 Vaccine Intentionally Destroyed

Moderna Vaccine Destroyed

500 Doses of the Moderna COVID19 vaccine were destroyed by a now-former employee at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, Wisconsin. The coronavirus vaccine vials were “intentionally removed”  from refrigeration, forcing officials to throw out nearly 500 doses, according to an internal investigation.

Moderna

Aurora Medical Center officials had initially suspected the Moderna vaccines, which must be kept between 36 and 46 degrees Fahrenheit, had inadvertently been left out at their Grafton hospital location on December 26.

A later investigation found the individual “acknowledged that they intentionally removed the vaccine from refrigeration,” officials said Wednesday.

Moderna

The medical center, which is part of Advocate Aurora Health, has notified “appropriate authorities for further investigation” and added that the individual is no longer employed by Aurora. The individual has not been identified.

“We continue to believe that vaccination is our way out of the pandemic. We are more than disappointed that this individual’s actions will result in a delay of more than 500 people receiving their vaccine. This was a violation of our core values.”

As of Wednesday afternoon, Aurora Health Care said, more than 21,000 health care workers had received the first of two injections at the company’s centers.

This news comes as providers and first responders across the country from New York to Texas are getting their initial doses and as the more contagious mutant UK version is seen in Colorado.

The vials can remain at room temperature for up to 12 hours. That allowed clinicians to salvage some of the doses.

FDNY COVID19 Vaccination Plan Begins

The Fire Department of New York – FDNY COVID19 vaccination plan began in earnest on Tuesday for the front line heroes facing the pandemic in the community.

“I’d like to thank the Department, Chief Medical Officer, the nurses and all the members who made this happen so quickly and worked so hard to bring this vaccine to our members. I have full confidence in the vaccine and its efficacy.

FDNY COVID19 Vaccination Plan Begins

I think this is the path back to what we would consider a normal life and we are encouraging all our members to participate,” says Fire Department of New York Uniformed Firefighters Association Health and Safety Officer Michael Schreiber, who received the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine today along with other FDNY Firefighters.

UFA President Andrew Ansbro says, “I just received my first dose of the Moderna Vaccine and scheduled my second dose. I’m looking forward to society getting back to normal. I encourage all the members in the Department to sign up and get vaccinated.”

FDNY COVID19 Vaccination Plan Faces Uphill Battle

In early December a poll found fifty percent of FDNY firefighters would decline the vaccination.

The FDNY Moderna COVID-19 Vaccination Plan, conducted by the FDNY Bureau of Health Services (BHS) in conjunction with the Bureau of Operations, continues at FDNY Headquarters in Brooklyn, the FDNY EMS Academy at Fort Totten, and the FDNY Fire Academy on Randall’s Island.

COVID-19 vaccinations began on December 23, and will continue for the next several weeks. As of today, over 1,000 FDNY members have been vaccinated.

It is unclear if the current approved vaccination will work against the new UK COVID19 strain which has been found in Colorado via community transmission.

Texas Bowl Cancelled Due To COVID19

Texas Bowl

The Mercari Texas Bowl between Arkansas and TCU has been canceled due to COVID19 cases, bowl officials said Tuesday.

The game, which was scheduled for New Year’s Eve at NRG Stadium in Houston, was canceled because of an increase in positive COVID-19 tests, injuries and other circumstances within TCU’s program.

Texas Bowl

TCU athletic director Jeremiah Donati said in a statement that those issues left the Horned Frogs short of the Big 12’s threshold for player availability.

It was set to be Arkansas’ first bowl appearance since 2016. The Razorbacks received an invitation, despite a 3-7 record, because the NCAA waived win eligibility requirements this season due to scheduling difficulties stemming from the pandemic. The Razorbacks join Missouri, South Carolina and Tennessee as SEC teams that accepted a bowl invitation but will not play in one because of COVID-19 issues with one of the participating teams.

TCU’s season concludes at 6-4. It is the second game the Horned Frogs had to cancel because of virus-related issues; they also canceled their season opener vs. SMU.

While the COVID19 vaccines are in the process of being distributed multiple social media posts state that at the current pace it will take ten years to innoculate everyone.

Texas Bowl – First Event Cancelled For COVID19 Since Christmas

Public health officials have been warning of a surge in COVID19 numbers since Thanksgiving and Christmas travel where more people traveled than almost any other time of the year.
