FDNY Firefighter Fee Part of Attack on US Capitol

FDNY Firefighter Fee

The worst news is true as headline read for the Fire Department of New York: Retired FDNY firefighter Fee was part of attack on US Capitol.

Thomas Fee, 53, of Freeport, Long Island, admitted in text messages to an acquaintance he was part of the riot and sent a photo of himself surrounded by rioters inside the US Capitol Rotunda, according to court papers.

Fee who is seen in the US Capitol during the attack has a history of racist behavior.

In 2004 at his volunteer firehouse, Fee repeatedly taunted a black physician. He was suspended from his Hempstead volunteer fire department for the behavior, but no action happened at FDNY because no crimes were charged.

The announcement about FDNy Firefighter Fee follows a statement last week from the Fire Commissioner saying FDNY would cooperate with federal authorities regarding any allegations.

IAFF Local 22 endorsed President Donald Trump for re-election in October 2020, but since then there have been multiple reports of problems in New York’s public safety departments.

An on duty NYPD officer used his vehicle while on duty to broadcast pro-Trump messages in violation of directives not to engage in politics on duty. Additionally, the department’s division director for equal opportunity, James Kobel, has now retired rather than face an administrative hearing over chat room posts he made which were racist in nature.

The statement says “department members, whether active or retired, must not engage in conduct that tends to bring the Department into disrespute…” Both FDNY and the New York Police Department are facing multiple issues of this nature.

Yesterday it was reported that James Kobel submitted his resignation paperwork in advance of a deaprtment administrative hearing over racist posts he had made under an alias.

In October 2020, IAFF Local 22 endorsed Donald Trump for re-election, despite the national union coming out strong for Vice President Biden. The same month a patrol officer was suspended for using his patrol car to broadcast pro-Trump messages.

Brian Maiorana: Staten Island Man Charged With Threats Against FBI

Brian Maiorana

Brian Maiorana, a Staten Island man and sex offender, was arrested Tuesday after posting explosive social media posts that allegedly threatened to kill celebrants of Joe Biden’s presidential win, derided Sen. Chuck Schumer as “the Jew Senator from New York” — and called for the “extermination” of Democrats, federal prosecutors announced.

Maiorana has a history of violent social media posts, has been charged in Brooklyn federal court w/making online threats to “blow up” an FBI building and harm “the Jew Senator from New York”–an apparent reference to Chuck Schumer.

Authorities found a Glock, a taser, a crossbow, an expandable baton and a skull mask in his home during the arrest. Also a book called “The Anti-Govt Movement Guidebook.”

Brian Maiorana

The 1978 book, “The Turner Diaries,” has been cited by white supremacists, including Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh. In the novel, a revolution in the United States “leads to the overthrow of the federal government, a nuclear war, and, ultimately, a race war which leads to the systematic extermination of non-whites,” the feds said.

When Biden was declared the winner of the presidential election Saturday, Maiorana ranted about the celebration, feds alleged.

“All right thinking people need to hit the streets while these scumbags are celebrating and start blowing them away,” he posted, according to the feds.

Maiorana was convicted in Pennsylvania in 2007 of statutory sexual assault and is registered as a level 1 sex offender in New York state, the feds said.

New York has been increasingly tense with a NYPD Deputy Inspector suspended and another officer suspended for campaigning while on duty.

NYPD Cop Suspended For On Duty Politics

A NYPD cop suspended without pay for using his patrol car to broadcast political messages in favor of President Donald Trump this weekend.

The official Twitter account of NYPD stated Sunday “We are aware of this video and it is under investigation by our Brooklyn South Investigation Unit. Police officers must remain apolitical.”

The account went on to tweet: “Suspended without pay; The police officer who is under investigation for using a department vehicle’s loud speaker for political purposes has been suspended, effective immediately.”

Reason NYPD Cop Suspended?

The Patrol Guide for New York Police Department officers is explicit that on duty and in uniform officers may not express personal opinion on the merits of any political party or candidate for public office.

NYPD Cop Suspended

This may seem confusing given the use of city resources towards 9-11 remembrances with Vice President Pence earlier in the year. In the case above the officer is making a personal opinion known using his patrol vehicle as a campaign tool. In the case of Vice President Pence it is a city function assisting an elected official in a non campaign event.

IAFF Local 22 Endorses Trump

IAFF Local 22 Emblem

The International Association of Firefighters (IAFF Local 22), the Philadelphia Firefighters and Paramedics Union, has endorsed President Donald Trump for reelection and criticized national union leaders for their endorsement of former Vice President Joe Biden last April.

Union President Michael P. Bresnan said in a statement published Tuesday that several Philadelphia fire companies were shut down under the Obama-Biden administration and that Trump has provided FEMA grants during his presidency that helped four of the city’s engine companies back into service.

“The members of Local 22 respectfully break with the undemocratic IAFF endorsement of Joe Biden and pledge our full support to President Donald J. Trump,” Bresnan stated. “The Biden endorsement was done without a canvas of local unions and the consideration of the rank and file IAFF membership.

Bresnan further stated that the Philadelphia IAFF Local 22 union’s endorsement of Trump should be “a wake-up call to IAFF leaders that have lost touch with the will of the membership.” He added that Local 22 members “overwhelmingly” chose Trump when surveyed, and he encouraged other local unions to confer with their members before the election.

IAFF national leadership endorsed Biden in April 2019 before he was officially named as the Democratic presidential nominee. IAFF President Harold Schaitberger said the union had encouraged Joe Biden to run, and said in an interview, “For us it was real simple: Joe Biden has been with us every step of the way. This is someone who respects workers, speaks for them and stands with them.”

IAFF Local 22 represents more than 4,700 current and retired firefighters, paramedics, EMTs and officers of the Philadelphia Fire Department, according to Bresnan’s statement. The decision was not without criticism from minority firefighters in Philadelphia.

In 2016, a former IAFF Local President and 9-11 responder, Christopher Suprun, became a faithless elector when he opposed Donald Trump in Texas’ Electoral College.

IAFF Local 22 has rich history stretching back over 100 years when the organization was founded as the City Firefighters’ Association. Today Local 22 represents the interests of more than 4,500 current and retired Firefighters, Paramedics, Emt’s and officers of the Philadelphia Fire Department.
